The Mayors Participation Fund for Sport was created by the Greater London Authority to capture and grow the huge potential for sporting and community benefit that was anticipated as a result of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London 2012.

In 2011 StreetGames submitted an application to the Mayors Legacy Participation Fund to create eight hubs of activity in some of the most deprived housing estates in London in partnership with four housing associations. These estate-based projects delivered sport on the doorstep of deprived areas based upon the principles of community engagement and community development.
