Norman was appointed as StreetGames’ first vice-President in December 2012 after serving as the charity’s inaugural Chair of the Board since 2007. This followed a long and distinguished career in local government in England and Scotland. He has held various board level posts in organisations that developed the innovative use of sport and cultural services to promote social inclusion and community regeneration.

Norman has served as an advisor to national and regional organisations, including the Local Government Association, Association of London Government and the London Arts Board, and to various government departments. He was founder Chair of the National Culture Forum and Chair of the respective professional associations for directors of sport, culture and leisure services on both sides of the Border.

A seasoned presenter at national and international conferences, Norman was a member of the Scottish Sport World Class Task Force and an official observer at the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games. His recent work as a consultant and adviser has centred on the legacy implications of London 2012.

Norman is an active runner and a season ticket holder at West Ham.
