StreetGames has been nominated in the 'The Bigger and Better Workforce Award' category as part of the London Sport Awards 2017.

Taking place on 19th January 2017, at indigo at The O2, the ceremony places grassroots sport at the heart of all that is good and unique about London.

The ‘StreetGames London Training Academy’ is the specific initiative that has been shortlisted for the award, in a category that celebrates organisations that have made a significant impact on creating a stronger workforce for physical activity and sport across London.

Jane Ashworth, Chief Executive of StreetGames, said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be nominated for this award and for StreetGames to be recognised for our work in changing communities.

“Being shortlisted in this category, together with two other strong nominees; demonstrates how we all share a passion for grassroots sport. Our Training Academy is committed to delivering qualifications and workshops that will make a real difference to the future coaching and volunteering workforce.

“By taking ownership for the delivery of doorstep sport in their community, not only do young people improve their personal development skills but it aids the sustainability of our projects leading to more young people from disadvantaged areas becoming more physically active.”

Organisers expect more than 400 people to be in attendance at the London Sport Awards 2017 to celebrate the success of grassroots sport during the past 12 months.
