The StreetGames Conference and Awards 2019 have now come to a close, but what an incredible conference, and an equally incredible year it was! Presented in association with the Sport for Development Coalition, this year’s flagship event took place at the beautiful Chesford Grange Hotel, in Coventry: the European City of Sport for 2019.

Featuring a fantastic selection of speakers, including Tom Overton (Sport Wales), Tim Hollingsworth OBE (Sport England), Ingrid Abreu Scherer (What Works Wellbeing), Simon Blake OBE (MHFA England) and Professor Ted Cantle CBE, this year’s gathering served to highlight many of the most pressing issues and innovative approaches being taken to combat problems such as mental ill-health, food poverty and social isolation.

With over 20 workshops to choose from, delegates were treated to a wide variety of sessions based around four key themes: individual development, social and community development, mental health, and physical wellbeing. In addition, this year’s event also welcomed various sports stars, including cycling presenter Rebecca Charlton, who served as conference compere, along with former athletes Kelly Sotherton and Dave Moorcroft, who co-presented the evening’s awards.

Speaking after the awards ceremony, StreetGames’ CEO Jane Ashworth said:

“… this year’s shortlist was perhaps our single strongest yet - a fact that should speak volumes about the enormous quality of our eventual winners.

Allow me to thank [them] all, once again for their incredible and trendsetting efforts over the past 12 months. Together, they truly have changed sport, changed lives and changed your local communities for the better”.

StreetGames would like to thank you everyone who helped to make this year’s conference its biggest and best yet – including guest speakers, presenters, delegates and staff members. Thank you!
