StreetGames is delighted to announce the release of two all-new training courses – designed to assist sports coaches and volunteers to ensure the safety of everyone attending their sessions.

These new courses represent the first of StreetGames’ training programmes to be endorsed by the leading professional development body CIMSPA, who partnered with StreetGames earlier this year as part of a joint effort to improve training standards throughout the sector.

CIMSPA’s endorsement means that both of these new courses are now formally recognised by the sector’s chartered professional body, with many more StreetGames courses set to follow*. Learners completing these courses will now also be entitled to claim CIMSPA CPD points as part of their annual requirements.

The first two courses to be endorsed by CIMSPA are both mapped to the Safeguarding and Protecting Children professional standard. They are:

  • Keeping Young People Safe in Doorstep Sport (6 CPD points)
  • Keeping Young People Safe in Community Sport (3 CPD points)

Please note that while both courses cover the same core topics, the former is focused on learners working within a Doorstep Sport environment, and lasts for a full day. The latter course, meanwhile is focused on individuals working within the wider community sport setting, and lasts for 3 hours in total.

Tara Dillon, CEO of CIMSPA said of the partnership:

“We are delighted that StreetGames have joined us in partnership. It shows their ongoing commitment to ensuring that their programmes align to the wants and needs of our sectors employers.

We’re proud to be able to announce our first endorsements with StreetGames and we look forward to promoting their endorsed programmes to our employer partners. We have been particularly impressed with the way they improve young lives by giving access to positive role models and volunteering opportunities”.

StreetGames' Director of Workforce and Employability, Hannah Crane said:

“CIMSPA and StreetGames have already done so much to ‘upskill’ the wider sport for development industry, but together we believe that we can do even more to empower and improve the sector.

We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with an industry acknowledged expert organisation like CIMSPA, and look forward to offering even more CIMSPA-endorsed programmes soon”.

Delivery of these latest courses is set to begin in January 2020.

* StreetGames is now pursuing a programme of mapping and submitting each of its existing courses and workshops, for CIMSPA endorsement over the coming year.
