This month’s project spotlight is shining on the team at the Pearson Park project in Hull, just one of the many local organisations delivering StreetGames' ParkLives programme all over the country.

Based around a popular Saturday morning activity session, this community fixture now attracts over 60 young people and their families, each and every week. Led by local legend and former StreetGames Coach of the Year Duffy, alongside a team of talented junior coaches - all of whom were once Doorstep Sport participants themselves - this vibrant sporting offer continues to go from strength to strength.

One recent success story has involved the delivery of football to young women - many of whom have taken such a liking to the game that they have since created dedicated girls' football teams back at school. As part of the recent Hull Futsal Festival, the team from Pearson Park even walked away with one of the tournament's top trophies!

Crucially, the Pearson Park has been just as impactful off the pitch - with the initial summer provision having already been extended due to overwhelming interest, thanks in part to additional funding sourced by StreetGames! Congratulations to Duffy and the entire team on their stellar work so far!

Here's what those involved had to say about the project:

"It’s a pleasure to be involved as the Parklives promoter. The wider community have really engaged with the project. Saturday mornings on an Inner City park have never looked so busy - full of kids and parents playing sport and having fun together!" Peer Promoter

"It’s been fantastic to see local partners, including North Hull Sports Network, Hull City Council, First4Cricket and Wicketz all join forces to make this a hugely successful project. Since the Parklives sessions started there has been a noticeable increase of young people and their families using the park during the summer holidays". Project Organiser
