For one day, from 23 May - 6 June 2016, StreetGames invites you to join in with our very first StreetGames No Elevator Day. The week will see hundreds of young people from the StreetGames network sealing off elevators and escalators and inviting people to take the stairs instead, thus encouraging more people to reconsider the importance of physical activity in their everyday routine.

It’s a shocking statistic that over 3.5 million children live in poverty and those living in low income families have just £2.55 per week to spend on active sport (using facilities, buying equipment etc.) This is something that StreetGames can address through Doorstep Sport – sport at the right time, in the right place, at the right price and in the right style

The main objective of No Elevator Day is to raise the public’s awareness of the importance of physical activity and help raise money so young people living in disadvantaged communities can benefit from sport.

We would be delighted if your organisation would join in by voluntarily closing some of the elevators/escalators at your premises and invite your visitors/employees to get moving by taking the stairs. As they head on their way to a healthier lifestyle, we would welcome a donation to improve the health and sporting opportunities for young people in disadvantaged communities.

We would ask you to communicate the initiative well in advance to staff and visitors of your building in order to make them aware of the purpose of the activity and to ask them to join in.

All activities under No Elevator Day are voluntary and will take into consideration the accessibility requirements for people with disabilities and with medical conditions.

We would be glad to hold a preliminary meeting with you or a representative of your organisation to discuss the full details.
