This April, seven members of the StreetGames network came together to throw an incredible multi-sport festival at the Orford Neighbourhood Hub in Warrington. The event, which attracted over 120 young people, proved to be a great success, with all participants – including a large number of young female attendees - enjoying a wide array of sports, as well as a healthy lunchtime meal. Aleksandra Savina – a nominee at the recent StreetGames National Awards, kicked things off with a stirring warm-up session, before encouraging participants to try out the many activities on offer. Attendees were particularly eager to meet Olympic gold medallist Courtney Fry – who delivered a boxing-based fitness session at the event! This year's 'North West Fest' was hosted by LiveWire Warrington, with additional support from Life Leisure (Stockport), Link for Life (Rochdale), Wirral MBC, Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles (Wigan), Anfield Sport and Community Centre, and Daisy UK (Liverpool). All projects contributed their time, merchandise and additional incentives to ensure that every participant had the chance to experience activities ranging from tennis and handball to Kabaddi and Ultimate Frisbee. Paul Flannery, of LiveWire Warrington, said of the event: “It was fantastic to bring the festival to Warrington! The day was a brilliant success and this was mainly down to the fantastic variety of activities provided! I was very impressed with the way the young people engaged on the day and mixed with those from different areas! Livewire was proud to host the StreetGames festival and it was certainly a day to remember!”. Share This PageSHARELinkedInTwitterFacebook/li>GoogleMake a difference today - donate now
